The numbers are 15 and 21

Solution:

Given that,

Two numbers are in the ratio 5:7

Let the first number be 5x

Let the second number be 7x

On adding 1 to the first and 3 to the second ratio becomes 6/9

Therefore,

\frac{5x + 1 }{7x + 3 } = \frac{6}{9}\\\\9 \times 5x + 1 = 6 \times 7x + 3\\\\45x + 9 = 42x + 18\\\\3x = 18-9\\\\3x = 9\\\\x = 3

Thus,

first number = 5x = 5(3) = 15

second number = 7x = 7(3) = 21

Thus the numbers are 15 and 21
