Correct Question :–
Two numbers are in ratio 5 : 9 on subtracting 3 from each the ratio become 1 : 2 find the number.
Answer :–
- The first number = 15.
- The second number = 27.
Given :–
- Ratio of two numbers = 5 : 9.
- After subtracting 3 from each side then the ratio becomes = 1 : 2.
To Find :–
- The both numbers.
Solution :–
Let,
The first number be 5x.
The second number be 9x.
According to the condition,
After subtracting 3 from each side it becomes 1 : 2.
• 5x – 3 : 9x – 3 = 1 : 2
It means,
Transpose the denominator (2) to L.H.S. and The denominator (9x – 3) to R.H.S.,
Now, open both the brackets.
So,
The first number = 5x = 5 × 3 = 15.
The second number = 9x = 9 × 3 = 27.
Hence,
The first number is 15 and the second number is 27.
