Hi ,
Let x and y are two numbers ,
x / y = 5/6
x = 5y/6 ---( 1 )
If 6 is subtracted from each of the
numbers ratio equals to 2 is to 3
( x - 6 ) / ( y - 6 ) = 2/3
x - 6 = 2/3 ( y - 6 )
( 5y /6 - 6 ) = 2/3(y - 6 ) from ( 1 ),
3 ( 5y /6 - 6 ) = 2 ( y - 6 )
5y /2 - 18 = 2y - 12
5y /2 - 2y = -12 + 18
( 5y - 4y ) / 2 = 6
y = 12 ---( 2 )
Put y value in equation ( 1 ) ,
x = 5y/6
x = ( 5 × 12 ) /6
x = 10
Therefore ,
Required numbers are ,
x = 10 , y = 12
I hope this helps you.
