here, if x and y are in the ratio of 7:3 , and they have difference of 20 between them,

x - y = 20 ;

and that would make x/y = 7/3 ;

i.e. x = 7y/3 ,

taking that value of x , and putting it into first equation will give us,

7y/3 - y = 20;

so, 7y - 3y = 60 ;

that is, 4y = 60 ;

and that will give us, y = 15 . and so on, x = 35 ;

So the answer is, 35 and 15 are the numbers that are in the ratio 0f 7:3 and have difference of 20.
