numbers = 3x:5x

3x/5x

3x-5/5x-5 = 1/2

cross multiply

2(3x-5) = 1(5x-5)

6x-10 = 5x-5

bring x-terms on one side and constants on another side

(1)x = 5

x=5

the numbers are:

3x = 3(5)

     =15

5x = 5(5)

     =25

Given :-

Two number are in the ratio 3:4.

If 8 is added to each number they became in the ratio 4:5.

To Find :-

The numbers.

Solution :-

Solution :-Let the numbers be 3x and 4x.

Now,

According to the Question,

⇒ (3x + 8) : (4x + 8) = 4 : 5

⇒ 3x + 8/4x + 8 = 4/5

⇒ 5(3x + 8) = 4(4x + 8)

⇒ 15x + 40 = 16x + 32

⇒ 15x - 16x = 32 - 40

⇒ - x = - 8

⇒ x = 8

Now, numbers are

1st number = 3x = 3 × 8 = 24

1st number = 3x = 3 × 8 = 242nd number = 4x = 4 × 8 = 32

Hence, the two numbers are 24 and 32.
