let numbers be 4x and 5x
given 24 is subtracted from each one
(4x-24)/(5x-24)=2/3
12x-72=10x-48
2x=24
x=12
two numbers are 48,60

Let the numbers be 4x and 5x

According to the question,

If 24 subtacted each of them, the numbers becomes

\dfrac{4x \: - \: 24}{5x \: - \: 24} = \dfrac{2}{3}

3(4x - 24) = 2(5x - 24)

12x - 72 = 10x - 48

12x - 10x = 72 - 48

2x = 24

x = \dfrac{24}{2}

x = 12

\therefore{} First number = 4x = 4 × 12 = 48

\therefore{} Second number = 5x = 5 × 12 = 60

\therefore{} The numbers are 48 and 60 respectively
