Solution

Given :-

  • two numbers are in the ratio of 9:4
  • Difference between is 15 .

Find :-

  • Required Number

Explanation

Let,

  • First Number be x ,
  • second number be y .

According to question,

(two numbers are in the ratio of 9:4)

==> x : y = 9:4

==> x/y = 9/4

==> 4x = 9y

==> 4x - 9y = 0_____________(1)

And,

(Difference between is 15 .)

==> x - y = 15________________(2)

By, equ(2)

==> x = 15 + y ________________(3)

Keep value by equ(3) in equ(1)

==> 4(15 + y) - 9y = 0

==> 60 + 4y - 9y = 0

==> -5y = -60

Multiply by (-) in both side ,

==> 5y = 60

==> y = 60/5

==> y = 12

Keep value of " y " in equ(3).

==> x = 15 + 12

==> x = 27

Hence

  • First Number is (x) = 27
  • Second Number is (y) = 12

Answer Verification

According to question,

(two numbers are in the ratio of 9:4)

==> x : y = 9:4

==> x/y = 9/4

keep value of x & y.

==> 27/12 = 9/4

divide by 3 numerator & denominator of L.H.S.

==> 9/4 = 9/4

Or,

==> 9:4 = 9:4

L.H.S. = R.H.S.

that's Proved
