Two numbers are such that the ratio between them is 1:2. If each is increased by 10, the ratio between the new numbers so formed is 3:5. Find the original numbers.

let,

two no. are x:y in ratio 1:2

x:y=1:2

x=1/2y

two no. are increased by 10 new ratio is 3:5

x+10/y+10=3/5

5x+50=3y+30

5x-3y= -20

on putting the value of x in eqn

5(1/2y)-3y=-20

5y-6y=-40

-y=-40

y=40

on putting the value of y in x

x=1/2×40

x=20
