Given:-
- Two numbers are such that the ratio between them is 5:7.
- If 7 is added to each of them, the ratio becomes 3:4.
To find out:-
Find the value of 5:7 ?
Solution:-
Let the ratio between two no be 5x : 7x.
★ According to the question,
If 7 is added to each of them, the ratio becomes 3:4.
5x + 7 : 7x + 7 =3:4
⇒ 5x + 7 / 7x + 7 = 3/4
By cross- multiplication
⇒ 4 ( 5x + 7 ) = 3 ( 7x + 7 )
⇒20x + 28 = 21x + 21
⇒ 21x - 20x = 28 - 21
⇒ x = 7
Now,
5x = 5 × 7 = 35
7x = 7 × 7 = 49
