so as they differ by three the equation will be

x-y=3------------(equation no. 1)

similarly, sum of twice the small and thrice the greater no. is 19 so the equation will be

3x+2y=19----------(equation no. 2)

now, multiply equation no. 1 by 2 on both sides

2(x-y) =2(3)

2x-2y=6

add both equations

3x+2y+2x-2y=19+6

5x=25

x=25/5=5

now, put value of x in equation no. 1 to get the value of y

so, x-y=3

5-y=3

y=5-3=2

value of x=5

value of y=2
