Two numbers differ by 5. If their sum is 19, then find the two numbers ​

let the numbers be x and y then,

According to the question,

x-y=5. .............(1)

and x+y=19. .. .............(2)

adding equations (1) and (2) we get,

(x-y) + (x+y)= 5+19

x-y+x+y=24

2x=24

x=12

from (1)

x-y=5

12-y=5

-y=5-12

y=7
