Answer:

67 is the required divisor .

Step-by-step explanation:

Explanation:

Given , when two numbers divided by a certain divisor give remainder 43 and 37  and when sum of the numbers is divided by the same divisor give remainder 13 .

Let X and Y be the two numbers which is divided by divisor  D .

As we know the formula ,

Dividend = Divisor × Quotient + Remainder

Step1 :

Therefore ,  for number X we have remainder 43 ,divisor D and quotient Q_{1}

X = D × Q_{1}  + 43 .........(i)

Similarly , for number Y we have remainder 37 , divisor D and quotient Q_{2}

⇒Y = D×Q_{2} + 37 .........(ii)

Step 2:

Now  adding (i) and (ii) we get ,

X + Y = D ( Q_{1}+Q_{2}) + 80

But given that  the sum of the numbers give 13 remainder when divided by same divisor D .

Therefore , the divisor has 13 less than 80 .

⇒Divisor = 80 - 13 = 67

Final answer :

Hence , 67 is the divisor for the given question .
