Two object of mass 100 gram and 200 gram are moving in the same line and direction with velocity of 2 metre per second and one M per second respectively. The caller ID and after the pollution the first object moves with a velocity of 1.67 M per second. Find the velocity of the second object.

Mass of object 1 (m) = 100gm
Velocity (v1) = 2m/s
Momentum of object1 = mv = 100 × 2 = 200gm m/s

similarly
momentum of object 2 = m1 × v1 = 200×1 = 200gm m/sec

from the two we get
mv = m1 v1

Now,
taking v = 1.67m/sec
to find v1

mv = m1v1
100 × 1.67 = 200 × v1

167/200 = v1

0.835 m/sec = v1

Ans. the velocity of second object = 0.835m/sec
