And to find the combined velocity

collision must be inelastic .

When both particles combined then mass of new particle will be 3 kg .

In inelastic collision we can apply conservation of momentum

so

m1v1 + m2v2 = ( m1+ m2 ) v

where v is combined velocity ,

and it is given that m1= m2 and v1 = v2 and are in opposite direction

so equation will be

m1v1 - m2v2 = ( m1 + m2 ) v

as ,m1v1 = m2v2

0 = ( m1 + m2 ) v

therefore , v = 0
