Two objects of masses 100 g and 200 g are moving along the same line and direction with velocities of 2 ms' and 1 ms respectively. They collide and after the collision, the first object moves or a velocity of 1.67 ms. Determine the velocity of second object. ​

Answer:Mass 1 (m1)=100g

mass 2(m2)=200g

initial velocity 1(u1)=2ms

final velocity 1(v1)=1ms

initial velocity 2(u2)=1.67ms

final velocity 2(v2)=?

m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2

100*2+200*1=100*1.67+200*v2

200+200=167+200v2

400-167=200v2

x=233/200=1.165 m/s
