Two objects of masses 100g and 200 g are moving along the same line and direction with velocities 2 metre per second and 1 metre per second respectively. They collide and after the collision the second object moves with velocity 1.67 metre per second determine the velocity of the first object.

Since no external force acts on them, the net change in momentum is zero Initial momentum Final Momentum (100 x 2) + (200 x 1)= (100 x 1.67)+ (200 x V)= V 1.165 m/s Hence the second object moves with 1.165 m/s in the same direction
