Given : Two objects of masses 10kg and 20kg are falling from heights 20m and 10m

To find :  the ratio of their times to reach ground

Solution:

S = ut + (1/2)at²

objects of masses 10kg   falling from heights 20m

u = 0   falling

t = ?

a = g

S = 20

=> 20 = 0 + (1/2)gt²

=> t² = 40/g

=> t = √40/g

objects of masses 20kg   falling from heights 10m

u = 0   falling

t = ?

a = g

S = 10

=> 10 = 0 + (1/2)gt²

=> t² = 20/g

=> t = √20/g

Ratio of time  =

Ratio  :     √40/g : √20/g

= √2 : 1

ratio of their times to reach ground = √2 : 1
