and batsman 2's score = y

ACCORDING TO QUESTION

x + y = 300 (1)

and x = 4y (2)

BY SUBSTITUTING THE VALUE OF THE EQUATION (2)

IN EQUATION (2)

x + y = 300

4y + y = 300

5y = 300

y = 300/5

y = 60

BY SUBSTITUTING THE VALUE OF y IN EQUATION (2)

x = 4 × 60

x = 240

SO RUNS SCORED BY

BATSMAN 1 = 240

BATSMAN 2 = 60 ans.
