Passing Matric: Requirements
While there are options for furthering your education without one, your life will be one hell of a lot easier if you are able to pass Matric. With that in mind, it's probably important for you to know what the minimum requirements are for passing Matric.
There are three levels of Matric certificates:
Bachelors Degree pass
Diploma pass
Higher Certificate pass
Let's look at each in turn.
Bachelors Degree pass
This level of pass will allow you to go on to study for a Bachelor's Degree at a university. The requirements for this are:
At least 40% for your Home Language
At least 50% for four other High Credit subjects
At least 30% for two other subjects
Diploma pass
This level of pass allows you to study towards a Diploma after school. You may fail only one subject. The requirements for this are:
At least 40% for your Home Language
At least 40% for four other High Credit subjects
At least 30% for two other subjects
Higher Certificate pass
These are the minimum requirements for passing Matric. You may fail one subject. The requirements here are:
40% for your Home Language
At least 40% in two other subjects
At least 30% in three other subjects
One of your languages must be either English or Afrikaans
The following subjects qualify as High Credit subjects:
