Answer: Law of multiple proportions states that when two elements combine to form two or more compounds in more than one proportion. The mass of one element that combine with a fixed mass of the other element are present in the ratios of small whole number.

In the two oxides of nitrogen

Oxide 1: Mass of nitrogen = 63.64 g

Mass of oxygen = 36.36 g

Oxide 2: Mass of nitrogen = 46.67 g

Mass of oxygen = 53.33 g

Thus let us fix the mass of nitrogen:

If 46.67g of nitrogen is combining with 53.33 g in oxide 2

Then 63.34 g of nitrogen will combine with =\frac{53.33}{46.67}\times 63.64=72.72g

As, the mass of nitrogen is fixed, so the mass ratio of oxygen in both the compounds must be in whole number ratio.

Mass ratio of oxygen in both the compounds =\frac{72.72}{36.36}=2

Hence, these two compounds obeys Law of multiple proportions.
