First of all , a circle is symmetric from all sides .
Construct 12cm and 6cm chords on all 4 sides such that you finally get a 12cm x 6cm rectangle .
The length of diogonal will give diameter of the circle .
radius = { sqrt ( 144 + 36 ) } / 2 = 3 sqrt (5)
