Two parallel sides of a trapezium are 120cm and 154cm and other sides are 50cm and 52cm. Find the area of the trapezium

Area of ΔDOC = √s(s-a) (s-b) (s-c) [using heron's formula]

[s = 50+52+34/2 = 68 cm]

= √68(68-50)(68-52)(68-34)

= √68 × 18 × 18 × 34

= 816 cm²

Also, Area of a triangle = 1/2 × bh

=> 1/2 × 34h = 816 cm²

=> h = 48 cm

Area of trapezium ABCD = 1/2 h(AD + BC) = 1/2 × 48 (120+154)= 6576 cm²
