Two particles A & B are thrown from same point and in same vertical plane as shown
in figure with velocity 30 m/s & 40 m/s. Find the separation between them after 3 sec
(Take g = 9.8 m/s2)
40m/s
30m/s
60°
30°
(A) 100 m
(C) 150 m
(B) 115 m
(D) 75 m

Answer:

you haven't mentioned in which direc. they have been thrown

suppose they are thrown downwards

separation will be brought by the relative speed i.e 10m/s v= 10 +9.8*3= 49.4m/s

s= 10*3 +1/2*9.8*3^2= 74.1m

Concept

What is the particles called?

A particle (or corpuscle in older texts) is a small, localized object to which multiple physical or chemical properties, such as volume, density, or mass, can be ascribed.

The word particle can refer to different types of very small objects, but this branch usually studies the irreducibly smallest detectable particles.

Given:- velocity A (Va) = 30m/s

             velocity B (Vb) = 40m/s

             Time (t) = 3sec

To find:- separation between particle                    A and B

Formula:- Vab = root (Va)^2 + (Vb)^2

Solution

Vab = root (30)^2 + (40)^2

        = 50 m/sec

now

Sab = Vab×t

        = 50m/sec × 3sec

        = 150 meter

Hence, separation between particle      A and B is 150 meter.

answer option (c) is correct.
