Given info : two particles are thrown with same speed from a point on ground in such a way that one attains maximum height h and other maximum range R.

solution : let initial speed of each particle is v 1st particle made an angle θ with horizontal plane and the other particle made an angle of α with horizontal plane.

case 1 : height attained by 1st particle is h = u²sin²θ/2g

height will be maximum only when sinθ = 1 i.e., θ = 90°

so, h = u²/2g ....(1)

case 2 : Range covered by the other particle is R = u²sin2α/g

Range will be maximum only when sin2α = 1 i.e., α = 90°/2 = 45°

so, R = u² × 1/g = u²/g ....(2)

from equations (1) and (2) we get,

h = R/2 ⇒R = 2h

Therefore the correct relation between h and R is R = 2h. so option (3) is correct choice.
