Two particles of equal mass have velocities ,=4i and T, - 4jms. First particle has an
acceleration a = (5i+57)ms 2 while the acceleration of the other particle is zero. The
centre of mass of the two particles moves in a path of (2004 E)

Answer:

1) Straight line

Explanation:

X cm =m1x1 + m2x2 / m1+m2

X1 = ( 4t+1/2 × 5t²)

X2 = 0

Xcm = ( 4t+1/2 × 5t²)/2

Y cm = m1y1 + m2y2 / m1+m2

y1 = 1/2.5t² and y2 = 4t

Therefore,

Ycm= m (5/2+2) + m(4t)/ m+m

Ycm =  ( 4t+1/2 × 5t²)/2

Xm = Cm

Thus, the  centre of mass of the two particles moves in a path of a straight line.
