Given - Mass of two particles - 4 kg and 6 kg

Distance between the two particles - 20 m

Find - Position of their meeting.

Solution - Let the distance of m1 from centre be R1 and distance of m2 from centre be R2. The total distance i.e. R1 + R2 is 20 metre.

According to the centre of mass, the formula used will be m1r1 = m2r2.

Since, R1 + R2 is 20m, R2 = 20 - R1.

Keeping the values in equation-

4*R1 = 6*(20-r1)

4*R1 = 120 - 6*R1

10R1 = 120

R1 = 12 metre.

Hence, position of meeting will be 12 metre from the 4 kg body.
