Let the free luggage allowed be x kg charge paid for each kg more than x=Rs.y
∴ y(105−2x)=30
105−2x=
y
30

−−−−−(i)
y(105−x)=36
105−x=
y
36

−−−−−(ii)
Multiplying (i) by 36 and (ii) by 30
630−42x=042x=630
3780−72x=
y
1080

3150−30x=
y
1080

−+−

x=
42
630

=15
∴ Free luggage allowed =15 kg
From (i) 105−2(15)=
y
30

105−30=
y
30

y=
75
30

=0.4
y=Rs.0.40=40 paise
Let us check (ii)
y(105−x)=30
0.4(105−15)=0.4(90)=36
