Two people are pushing a broken down car. One pushes 2 m/s east, the other a 1.5 m/s east. Do they have the same or different velocity? why?

Both the people have different velocities.

  • Velocity does not only depend upon direction or magnitude, it depends on both.
  • The two people have different magnitude of velocities but same direction, i.e. they both push the car in the east direction.
  • But the magnitude at which they push the car is different, therefore their velocities will be different.
