CORRECT QUESTION :

Two people push a car of 3 seconds with a combined net of 400N.

(i) Calculate the impulse if the mass of car is 2900 kg.

(ii) What will be the change in the velocity ?

GIVEN :

  • Force, f = 400 N.
  • Time, t = 3 seconds.
  • Mass of a car = 2900 kg.

TO FIND :

  • The impulse if the mass of car is 2900 kg.
  • Change in the velocity.

SOLUTION :

To find the impulse = J = ?

Using,

Impulse = Force × time.

Impulse = 400 × 3

Impulse = 1200 Ns.

Now,

To find the change in velocity = ?

Change in velocity, \sf \triangle V \ = \ J/m.

\implies \sf \dfrac {1200 \ Ns}{2900 \ kg}

\implies \sf 2.42 \ m/s.

Change in velocity = 2.42 m/s.

•°• Impulse is 1200 Ns and change in velocity is 2.42 m/s.
