 \frac{y - 1}{x \:}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \\  2y - 2 = x \\  \\ x - 2y =  - 2(i)

 \frac{x - 1}{y}  = 1 \\ x - y = 1(ii)

subtracting eq (i) form (ii)

 - y =  - 3 \\ y  = 3 \\ so \:  \\ x = 2 \times 3 - 2  \\ = 6 - 2  \\ = 4
