Given:-

two perpendicular vectors having magnitudes of4 units and 3 units are added.

To Find:-

  • Their resultant.

Solution:-

Let

 |A|  = 4

 |B|  = 3

\theta = 90\degree

The Resultant Vector is

 |A + B| =  \sqrt{ { |A| }^{2} +  { |B| }^{2} + 2 |A| |B|   \cos(90)   }

 =  >  \sqrt{ {4}^{2}  +  {3}^{2}  + 2(4)(3) \times 0}

As, cos90°=0

 =  >  \sqrt{16 + 9}

 =  >  \sqrt{25}

 =  > 5 \: units

∴ The resultant has the magnitude of 5 units.
