Two persons P and Q are at a distance of 14m. P goes to Q following the semicircular path

and Q goes to P in straight path as shown in figure.

i. What is the distance travelled by P ?

ii. What is the distance travelled by Q ?

iii. Find displacement of P and Q.

vii. Explain the law of constant proportion with examples.

Answer:

1) The distance travelled by P will be 22 m. as the circumference of the semicircle is πr. radius is 7 m in this case.

2) The distance travelled by Q will be 14 m I. e. Q will cover the diameter.

3) Displacement of both P and Q will be 14 as it is the shortest distance between them.

7) According to the law of constant proportion , a chemical substance always contains the same elements in a fixed proportion by mass, irrespective of its source. The law of constant proportion is also known as the law of definite proportion .
