2 pieces of length are cut off from a rope 11 meter long. They are 13/5 meters and 33/10 meters. What is the length of the remaining rope?

Total 11 Meters

13/5 m, 33/10 m are cut off. what is the remaining?

first of all, try to get a common multiple on the denominator of both the fractions to make it easier for you to add both the lengths.

so 13/5 both numerator and denominator is multiplied by 2 to get the denominator as 10 , which equals 26/10

now 26/10 rope piece and the other rope piece 33/10 both have the same denominator, so when added

26/10 + 33/10 = 59/10,

so 59/10 meters(5.9M) of rope has been cut off, now subtract this length from 11 meters initial rope length.

so 11 M - 5.9 M = 5.1 M remaining

or 11 x 10/10 = 110/10

110/10 - 59/10 = 51/10 (5.1)

However you do it the answer will be 5.1 Meters
