Answer:

6 3/4 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Two pipes A and B can fill a tank in 6 hours and 8 hours respectively.

Take LCM of 6 and 8

Total work = 24

No of days or hours * one day or hour work (or) efficiency = Total work

One day work of A = 24/6 = 4

One day work of B = 24/8 = 3

Total efficiency = 7

In 2 days 7 work can be done ( since it is working on alternative hour)

On dividing 24/7,

Quotient = 3 and Remainder 3

A and B work alternative = 3*2 = 6 hours

In days 21 work is completed.

Remaining 3 work is completed by A = 3/4 hours

A and B can work alternatively and complete a work in 6 3/4 hours
