Let the time taken by pipe A =x

and by pipe B =y

ATQ

x + y = 31/3

3x+3y=31−−−−(1)

x = y+5

3(x-y=5)

3x-3y =15 -----------------------------(2)

add equation (1)&(2)

3x+3y =31

+ 3x-3y =15

= 6x = 46

x =46/6

x = 7.33

time taken by A =7.33m

time taken by B = 7.33-5=2.33
