Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one pipe take x minutes then other will take x-5 minute.

In one minute part of tank filled = 1/x + 1/x-5

Given 1/x+1/x-5 = 9/100

(2x-5)/(x²-5x) = 9/100

9x²-45x = 200x - 500

9x²-245x+500= 0

9x²-20x-225x+500=0

x(9x-20)-25(9x-20) =0

(x-25)(9x-20) =0

x=25 or x=20/9

One pipe takes 25 minutes and other takes 20.

20/9 is not possible since it is less than five.
