⇒ It's given that 2 pipes can separately fill a tank in 3 hrs and 2 hrs. We have to find how much time will they take to fill the tank.
PIPE A :
⇒ Pipe A can fill the tank in 1/3 hrs
PIPE B :
⇒ Pipe B can fill the tank in 1/2 hrs
ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION :
⇒ Pipe A + Pipe B = Time taken to fill the tank
⇒ ( 1/3 ) + ( 1/2 ) = Time taken to fill the tank
⇒ LCM of 2 and 3 is 6
⇒ ( 1*3+ 1*2 )/6 = Time taken to fill the blank
⇒ ( 3 + 2 )/6 = Time taken to fill the tank
⇒ 5/6 hrs = Time taken to fill the tank
Therefore, the 2 pipes would take 5/6 hr to fill the tank.
