The number of images formed by the combination is 5.

Two plane mirrors are combined at 70°. A point object is placed on the bisector of angle between mirrors.

We have to find the number of images formed by combination.

Concept : When two plane mirrors are kept facing each other at an angle Ф and an object is placed between them, then

  1. number of images,  n = (360/Ф - 1) , if 360/Ф is even.
  2. number of images, n = 360/Ф , if 360/Ф is odd.

Here, 360°/70° ≈ 5 ( odd)

∴ The number of images formed by the combination is 5.
