two plane mirrors are placed making an angle theta in between them. write an expression for the number of images formed if object is placed between mirror. state the condition if any​

【M = 360/ theta】

CONDITIONS :-

1) EVEN

→ for both symmetry and asymmetric

n = m-1

2) ODD :-

→ Symmetric,... then n = m-1

asymmetric ,

then n = m

1. if 360/theta is even then the number of images formed will be (360/theta)-1.

360/90=4

no. of images=4-1=3

2. if 360/theta is odd then 2 conditions arise

a)if the image is symmetrical then (360/theta)-1

example. 360/45=8

b) if object is asymmetrical the 360/theta.

example. 360/40=9

3. if 360/theta gives and fraction or decimal the the number of images formed will be equal to it's integral part.

example. 360/19=18.94

then number of images will be 18

4. if 2 mirrors are placed parallel to each other the the number of images formed will be infinite
