Two plane mirrors each of length 2 m are placed at 1 cm distance apart facing each other. A ray of light gets incident at the end of one mirror at an angle of 45°. How many reflections takes place between mirrors ?

Blue lines are imaginary lines.

CB is the line perpendicular to the two mirrors M1 and M2 and hence CB length is 1cm

angle CAB = angle CBA = 45 degrees and hence it is an Isosceles Triangle which means:

Length of CA= Length of CB which is equal to 1cm. (Basic Geometry)

So with each reflection, the ray crosses 1cm of mirror's distance.

Since the mirror is 1m (=100cm) in length, the ray will undergo 100 reflection (50 on each mirror) before it crosses the two mirrors' other ends.
