Because maths follows rule of BODMAS which stands for brackets of division multiplication addition subtraction
This means that always brackets will be solved then divides then multiplies then addition then subtraction . In this case that means forst we will do 2/2 which is 1 then we will do 2+1 which is 3 and is the answer
