Assuming that negative charge is placed to the left of the positive one.

The potential will be zero to the left of negative charge.

Electric potential at a point=k×q÷r.

         Let the potential be zero at a distance x from the negative charge.

The net potential at the point= -k×2÷x +k×4÷(1+x)

                                                  0 =  -2k(1+x)+4kx

                                                  2kx=2k

                                                       x=1m

Explanation:

let the distance be x m

r=1m

Q=4micro coulomb

q=-2 micro coulomb

VQ+Vq=0

kQ/x+kq/(r-x) = 0

k4/x -k2/(1-x)= 0

k4/x=k2/(1-x)

4(1-x) = 2x

4-4x=2x

x=2/3=0.66 m will be the point where line joining will be 0
