Answer:
5(√2 + 1) cm from -4μC & 5(√2 + 3) cm from 8μC
Explanation:
Two point charges of 8 micro coulomb and - 4 micro coulomb are separated by a distance of 10cm in air. At what point on the line joining the two charges is the electric potential zero?
As 1 charge is + Ve & another Charge is -ve
so point will lie out sides
Let say Point is on right side of -4μC at distance d cm
then (8 * 1 )/(10 + d)² = 4*1/d²
=> 2d² = (10 + d)²
=>(10+d)/d = √2
=> 10/d + 1 = √2
=> 10/d = √2 - 1
=> d = 10/(√2 - 1)
=> d = 5(√2 + 1)
5(√2 + 1) cm from -4μC & 5(√2 + 3) cm from 8μC
