Two points have the same x-coordinate and opposite y-coordinates. Which is a possible graph of these points?

Y=mX and Y=-mX

Y=-nX and Y=nX

Let us assume two straight lines (i)Y=mX and ....... (1) {For any real value of m.}

                                                      (ii)Y=-mX. ....... (2) {For any real value of m.}

Now, for any value of X( say X=1, we can get Y=m from the equation (1) and Y=-m from the equation (2)) both the equation gives an equal and opposite value of Y.

Again, assume two straight lines (i)Y=-nX and ....... (3) {For any real value of n.}

                                                      (ii)Y=nX. ....... (4) {For any real value of n.}

Now, for any value of X( say X=1, we can get Y=-n from the equation (3) and Y=n from the equation (4)) both the equation gives an equal and opposite value of Y.

Therefore the graphs can be drawn as shown in the figure. (Answer)
