Two poles 8m and 13m high are standing 12m apart. Find the distance between their tops. ​

use Pythagoras theorem

with the help of the given diagram

the distance between top of the first pole to second pole is hypothenes of right angle triangle

=12×12 + 5×5

=144+25=169=13×13

therefore the distance between top of the two poles is 13m
