Two poles of height 10m & 15 m stand vertically on a plane ground. If the distance between their feet is 53m then find the distance between their tops.\

AB and CD are two poles with height 10m and 15m.

BD is the distance between their feet=53m

As poles are standing vertically, means they are making the angle of 90° with ground.

So, In triangle ACE

Angle E=90°

AE=53cm and CE=5cm

By pythaggoras,

=P²+

AC²=CE²+AE²

  • AC²=5²+53²
  • AC²=25+2809
  • AC²=2834
  • AC=under root 2834cm Ans.
