Hey There,

Here's how you can solve the question.

First make a diagram.

Consider my solution image.

Let the 25 m pole be AD.
Let the 20 m pole be BE.

We are given that distance between poles is 12 m.

So, DE = 12 m
So, BC = 12 m too

Now, A and B are the tops of poles. We need distance AB.

Now, consider AC.

We can easily see that AC = 5 m.

Now, ∆ABC is a right angled triangle.

So, AB² = AC²+BC² = 5²+12²

So, AB = 13 m

Thus, distance between tops of poles is 13 m.

Hope it helps
