Two poles AD and CE of height 6 m, 11 m respectively.

Distance between the feet of two poles (DC) = 12 m

AD = BC = 6 m

BE = CE - BC = 11- 6 = 5 m

To prove : Find AE

Proof : According to Pythagoras theorem,

AE2 = AB2 + BE2

AE2 = 122 + 52 = 169

AE = 13.

∴ Distance between the tops of two poles = 13 m.
