two poles of hight 6cm and 11cm stand on a playground if the distance between their feet is 12m find the distance between their tops?

use Pythagoras theorem for right angle triangle
hypotenuse^2=base^2+perpendicular ^2
here base = 12cm
and perpendicular = 11cm-6cm=5cm
then
h^2=12^2+5^2
then h= √144+25
so h=√169
hence hypotenuse=13cm
13cm is the distance between the poles
