Let fare from a to b = x
a to c = y
Forming simultaneous equations:
2x + 3y = 177.... I)
3x + 2y = 173.... II)
Lets eliminate x by multiplying equation I by 3 and II by 2 the subtracting I from II.
[6x + 9y = 531]
-
[6x + 4y = 346]
5y = 185
Y = Rs 37
Substituting 37 in I to get X.
2x + 3 × 37 = 177
2x + 111 = 177
2x = 66
x = Rs 33
The fare of b from a is :
Rs 33
